Astrology is the oldest science on earth which is believed to have been revealed million years ago when Lords of Flames came to guide humanity in their evolutionary process. Astrology had been the important part of our lives since the times of Caveman. Primitive societies needed the Sun & Moon for their migration, military campaigns, protection from herds, hunting, voyages and for illuminating their path to explore the world. Their camps, food and other basic necessities were dependent on these sources of light. 

In Vedas (Holy Hindu Scriptures written in Ancient India around 5000 years ago by sages), the oldest scriptures in the World, the astrology had been depicted in abstract forms. During Vedic times, the people were aware of the constellations, and their deities, phases of Moon, signs and other planets too. The calculation of the year, season, month, fortnight, days and other cosmic phenomena were not only understood but used for daily living. Importance is attached to each day which it belongs to some deity ruled by certain Nakshatra (constellation) and different phases of Moon makes it more appealing. The year was divided into two main parts Uttarayan (The phenomenon of Sun’s movement towards North on celestial sphere between January 14^th  and July 14^th starting from Capricorn to Gemini as per Indian Astrology) and dakshinayan (Sun’s movement towards South between July 14^th and January 14^th  starting from Cancer to Saggitarius). Uttarayan was considered auspicious for self and rising of soul and spiritual upliftment. The sun doesn't go up and down, it is the position of earth in orbit around the Sun makes as look like it's moving up and down.

The Vedas have considered the astrology as third eye through which man can know and envision his worldly life and spiritual self. The entire development and growth of mysterious astrological knowledge on Indian soil is popularly known as ‘Vedic Astrology’ to the Western World because the knowledge of Vedas can not be meaningfully acquired without understanding astrology and vice versa. Vedic astrology is considered in fact as the ‘Mother of all Sciences.’ The Vedas have been also dealt with science, religion and medicine, besides astrology. Most of one’s self and one’s life is revealed through the knowledge of astrology and astronomy.

The influences that planets make on life on earth can be seen by the actions of Moon on sea. The new Moon and full Moon bring tides in oceans, so ships and seamen take advantage of the information. It has been observed by the scientists that mentally challenged persons get more agitated and are prone to crazy acts due to the influence of the new Moon and full Moon. The word ‘lunatic’ for these kinds of people got originated from word ‘lunar’ (relating to the movements of Moon).

 Many ancient civilisations have risen, blossomed, fallen & perished but the knowledge of astrology survived and grew with the evolution of mankind across the time. All across the world, particularly in India, astrology is held in high esteem because it is considered the eye of wisdom. All the activities in our lives whether they are social, political, economic or religious can be supported by the principles of astrology. Astrology was tested and experienced for many centauries and its knowledge was transferred down the ages to new generations. Although we also notice that some rationalists of modern world challenge it by calling it superstitious and misguiding. They should be corrected by asking them how they can rightfully say so about a subject that they have never studied or learnt. It is the arrogance which allows them to reject the subject which is primarily based on scientific principle of ‘cause and effect’. Indeed, the astrology also needs ongoing research and development funding as is allocated to other subjects like medicine, space science, languages, cultural heritage, civilisation and archaeology etc.

Ancient man has found a correlation between the movement of the sky and archetype behaviour pattern.  In astrology we see the subtle connectivity between the moving stars, the zodiac and human behaviour. After a lot research, it has been observed and inferred that a certain pattern works between a planet and the characteristics of man. Astrology is not only confined to Sun sign or Moon sign, but also an exhaustive horoscope can reveal

accurate traits and basic characteristics of person. If the tools of astrology (vedic) are applied correctly, then the past, present and future events can be predicted with precision. The permutation and combination of planets create a balance that provides definite personality traits.

A horoscope made on the date, time and place of birth can reveal the past, present and future of person. Ancient sages had laid down the principles on which different planets give particular results. If an astrologer is well versed with this science, has ample experience and is blessed with good intuitive wisdom, then he can always make correct prediction. The failure in interpretation or making accurate predication entirely falls on the person concerned. If one is not well equipped with the subject and does not know the intricacies, there are chances on making wrong predictions. An astrologer needs to be knowledgeable and have the right virtues. A sage astrologer from India, Varahmihira said that an astrologer should know the five other subjects besides learning astrology, for only then he can attain the mystic knowledge of astrology.

In astrology we believe that this birth is in continuation of many births which one takes and this pattern will continue until one gets liberated or attains moksha (ultimate emancipation). The action or karma done in previous births decides and controls our present birth to great extent. Perhaps this is the reason we don’t have any control on the set of parents, relations, environment and other permanencies of life.

Can the astrology help us & how?

I would say that the astrology can be a phenomenol tool for SWOT(S for Strengths, W for Weaknesses, O for Opportunities and T for Threats) analysis for identifying, evaluating and understanding challenges or risks during our entire struggle for existence (survival and growth).  This analysis can help us in planning our future lives based on this analysis. We can use our strengths in shaping our future and convert weaknesses into strengths by working on them. We should not expect miracles from astrologers and trust me that they are not capable to do. It will be a blatant lie if I claim that I can change your destiny. Yes, I can help you in diagnosing your problems astrologically. Astrology provides us vision and wisdom to acquire reasonable foreseeability to manage risks in our lives. Though a native can not eliminate those inherent perils but one can manage them by consulting a wise astrologer who is capable to explain strengths and weaknesses of birth chart. Only a competent knowledgeable astrologer can help you on it. The irony of astrology is that every Dick and Harry proclaims to be magician (quick problem solver) and cheat the innocent people. These astrologers are giving bad name to this marvellous science because ignorant clients are unable to differentiate between a real and fraudulent astrologer. It is happening because there is no a system in place where by the professional qualifications of an astrologer can be evaluated by a recognised national or international astrological professional body. 

By analysing the charts, various events relating to our lives can be predicted with reasonable accuracy by studying the influences of the planetary bodies. For example, by analysing the 5^th house (the house of education & creativity) and influences of various planets connecting to it in somebody’s horoscope, a professional astrologer is capable to the predict his strengths and weaknesses in certain specific field of education. It can be very predicted that native will be well qualified though it is very difficult to quantify the outcomes for example how many university degrees a perosn can obtain.

Learning Vedic Astrology

The self-learning is an unending tedious process for learning and understanding new things which requires tons of courage, luck and consistency  to stay focused on the topic in hand.  It needs strong passion, commitment, hard work, self motivation and discipline for learning. In ancient times there was a tradition of Gurukul (the Indian tradition for learning from gurus) where the gurus (the revered teachers) used to train their students in conventional brick & mortar environment. It was not easier to share knowledge in a flowing fashion. Fortunately we have reached in such a era where the social media offer us the tools to share our thoughts and opinions freely with others all across the world communication from our homes and offices.

The Internet motivates me also to grab this opportunity to share the divine knowledge of astrology, known as Jyotisha “the light from God” or Hindu Astrology or Vedic Astrology, as a student with other curious people who are fascinated towards the mysticism of life. The astrology has solid innate potential to decode the hidden planetary influences on our lives but we need to have wisdom, common sense and humility to apply the principles of astrology very carefully in our charts to understand it. We cannot do it with great success unless we have great analytical and interpreting skills which, of course, are available to us with the blessings of Lord Jupiter and Mercury. We will discuss it sometimes later. I will share my knowledge the way it comes to my mind in a flexible schedule. I have to plan yet how we will start because I had been a student all my life and not tried as teacher. So I think we start from scratch and go from there. I don’t want to confuse you. I think this blog is for ‘toddlers’ who want to start learning astology slowly. But the rest all depends on your response who things will go.

The Magic of Astrology

Life is full of surprises. We dont' know where it takes us to. Thats where the true magic of astrology starts. I never thought that I will be into astrology or be a professional astrologer. Uptill the age of 25, I was not at all known to this world. I was borne in family where this science was not popular at all. My father was atheist kind of person in those times and did not understand the role of planets in our lives. Most of the people in this materialistic world have no idea about the truthfulness of astrology because of involvement of fraudulent people in this business who cheat the people in one way of the other on daily basis and create bad image of this brilliant science in the minds of innocent people who go to astrologers in serach of good advice. If astrology is to be used by the right practioners for the benefit of the public without much greed, then can play a better role infusing confidence in people about the veracity of predictive astrology. When I started reading the astrology, I found myself immersed into this ocean of knowledge and found lost and could never come out of it. Actually, my birth chart has all combinations of planets which attracted me towards this treasure of knowledge. We will discuss those combinations of planets in a horoscopes which help the natives to become students of astrology.
